Miryana Markova, VP Professional Services at AIOPSGROUP

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at AIOPSGROUP

My journey in the IT Industry began when I was a sophomore at the university and has continued for the past 21 years in different roles and exploring different angles – from technical writing to development, technical support, people management, and delivery management. At AIOPSGROUP I am a Partner and lead our Professional Services Organization covering development, quality assurance, technical support, and delivery management.

2. What do you love the most about your job?

I can’t say there is one thing I love the most, it’s a little bit of everything – being able to help our clients and make an impact on their business, growing the AIOPSGROUP team in size and maturity, fostering and supporting the coming to life of the ideas of the team.

I do enjoy the challenge and ongoing innovation that is inherent to the very fast-growing segment of our business and AI.

3. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

For me, the biggest challenge is adapting to change and helping others do it, both on a professional and personal level.

The current pandemic was a global challenge to adjust to the new now and help others to cope at first and then excel. However, I see every challenge as an opportunity for growth and adjusting the perspective.

4. If you could share with us one leadership lesson that you’ve learned over the years, what’d it be?

I think it would be "walk the talk" - Be honest, be consistent, do not commit unless you can deliver, and always do what you say.

This is not an easy thing to do; we have lost projects that we did not want to commit to because we knew that the timeline was unrealistic. However, the rewards are long-lasting relationships and credibility in the industry.

5. Any advice on how to build confidence as a woman in a leadership role? How did you do it?

Have a “can do” attitude no matter what comes your way.

Never back out of a challenge, stand by your team and support it, embrace the failure as part of the path and celebrate every achievement.

6. What sacrifices you’ve made to be where you’re today?

Looking back I don’t think I needed to sacrifice anything to be where I am today.

Work-life balance is very important for me personally and for AIOPSGROUP as a company.

However, I had to learn to manage my time and priorities efficiently to avoid long working days and be able to spend quality time with my family.

7. How do you unwind and unplug from work?

For me, the best way to unplug from work is to spend time with my family, we enjoy playing board games, hiking or cycling when the weather permits, or simply watching a good movie together.
