About the event

Overview

Climate change is no longer just a forecast or a scientific hypothesis. The consequences of human activity make their impact on the Earth and it is changing.

In 2002 two businessman – Patagonia’s founder Yvon Chouinard and Blue Ribbon Flies’ owner – Craig Mathews, established 1% for the Planet – a global network of companies which donate 1% of their annual income back to the environment. The idea is simple: because companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources and give back to the Blue planet.

The 1% for the Planet model works threw the partnership between its members – companies, individuals and non-governmental organizations. Today, the organization has more than 1800 members from over 45 countries. Since its beginning, 1% for the Planet has certified more than $200 million in support to approved environmental nonprofits.

How can we, as a business or individual, help? How do we become a member of 1% for the Planet? What opportunities does the membership of the organization give us?
